About

A Few Words

Lee Patterson

I'm Lee Patterson — a technology enthusiast, volunteer firefighter, and lifelong resident of the Eastern Townships. I studied at Bishop's University in communications and management, and I've spent my career exploring how new technologies can make a real difference in everyday life.

I've always been naturally curious — the kind of person who takes things apart to understand how they work, then figures out how to make them better. That curiosity led me from communications into technology, from technology into community service, and eventually into municipal politics.

My great-grandfather Kenneth Patterson served as a municipal councillor in Knowlton — so you could say that community involvement runs in the family. This website is my personal space to share topics that interest me, from tech to community life in the Townships.

Interests

Technology & Curiosity

Technology has always been at the centre of what I do. Whether it's exploring the latest in AI, testing new gadgets, or thinking about how digital tools can simplify everyday tasks — I find it endlessly fascinating. I believe technology should serve people, not the other way around.

I'm particularly interested in how technology can improve transparency and efficiency in public services — tracking citizen requests, reducing paperwork, making information more accessible. But my curiosity goes well beyond governance: smart home tech, drones, podcasting, and anything that pushes the boundaries of what's possible.

"I'd rather reduce administrative burdens and use new technologies to better serve people."

Community

Giving Back

I served as a volunteer firefighter with the Lac-Brome fire service for 23 years — it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. In 2018, I was honoured to receive the Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal from the Governor General of Canada in recognition of that commitment.

I've had the privilege of serving on several community organizations, including as Past President of the Brome County Agricultural Society, and as a member of La Fondation du Maire de Granby and the Club Optimiste de Lac-Brome. Volunteers are what make our community special — without them, we would not have the activities and services we count on.

Municipal Life

Serving Brome Lake

In November 2025, I was elected Mayor of the Town of Brome Lake, after serving as councillor for the Knowlton-Victoria district since 2013. It's a privilege to serve this community and to work on the issues that matter — from infrastructure and the environment to responsible development and smarter governance.
